Professor receives Engineering Faculty Research Award

Dr. Mehta receives award from the dean

Dr. Gayatri Mehta, associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, today received the 2017 Engineering Faculty Research Award.

Gayatri joined UNT’s College of Engineering in 2009 after receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on exploring design choices for custom reconfigurable devices and custom domain-specific architectures using human computation and automated algorithms.

Last year, Mehta had more than $770,000 in active grants that supported four graduate and six undergraduate students. Her work recently appeared in six refereed papers in journals and conferences, all featuring student and UNT co-authors.

Gayatri’s work also was demonstrated at the IEEE/ACM Design Automation Conference and at the Guyer High School in Denton, demonstrating the breadth of her outreach efforts.
